Lithuania thanks Germany, the EU and the UN for responding to urgent challenges in Sudan and organizing the Partnership Conference with Sudanese partners. We fully support the Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and the civilian-led Transitional Government of Sudan in their efforts to implement economic and political reforms and to accomplish the further transitional process in peaceful, inclusive and democratic way to Sudanese people.

Recognising significant economic and additional challenges brought by COVID-19 pandemic for Sudan and Sudanese people, Lithuania pledges to provide the humanitarian assistance of EUR25000 for ‘Sudan Family Support Programme’ through World Food Organization.

Sudan‘s transition reminds Lithuania’s successful transition to democracy. For its part, Lithuania also is ready to further cooperation with Sudan by sharing its institutional and expert experience. Today Lithuania is recognized as a hub for information and communication technologies (ICT) and further positioning itself as a center of excellence in cybersecurity, e-business and e-government solutions. In this context, Lithuania would be happy to start cooperation on ICT solutions for the Sudanese Government through EU development cooperation initiatives.
